As an infant, your baby is learning and growing every day. Consistent nurturing and gentle care are essential to help make babies feel safe. As they grow and gain awareness of their surroundings, they also begin to explore. Our infant classroom supports:

Infant Class Developmental Benchmarks

Our infant class focuses on specific developmental and spiritual benchmarks.

Language Development 

  • Understanding words and gestures 
  • Progressing from babbling with affection to first words 
  • Repeating sounds/words 
  • Using exclamations like “uh-oh” 

Health & Nutrition 

  • Having a routine that regulates feeding and sleeping 
  • Showing interest in new foods 
  • Learning to hold a bottle 
  • Learning to finger feed 
  • Looking to familiar adults for emotional support 
  • Sitting with or hugging a familiar adult 
  • Learning to play in a safe environment 

Social/Emotional 

  • Playing alongside friends

Physical Development

Spiritual Teaching Objectives 

  • The Bible is one big story that tells us about God. 
  • God made the earth and everything on it, including you! 
  • God loves you. 
  • Praying is how we talk to God. 
  • Singing is how we celebrate God. 
  • Jesus died on the cross to forgive us for our sins. 
  • We get to Heaven by believing in Jesus – who He was and what He did for us. 

The Pillars Infant Classroom Activities

Circle Time  Infants will learn about shapes, numbers, and colors.    
Curriculum   Infants will observe, play, connect, and respond while engaging with teachers in cognitive skill development.     
Fine Motor Development   Infants will be given manipulatives to aid in building fine motor development, such as pinching and grasping.    
Gross Motor Development   Teachers will help infants master sitting up, crawling, standing, walking, etc.    
Outside Exploration   Infants will be able to explore the great outdoors throughout the day.    
Sensory Stimulation   Infants will explore different textures, shapes, and sounds.    
Spiritual Development   Infants will hear bible stories, songs, scriptures, and prayers every morning. Morning Prayer and Daily Devotion are an important part of the day. In addition to this, the Chaplain will visit once a week for Chapel.     
Tummy Time   Infants will strengthen their neck, core, and shoulder muscles while exploring new toys.  
 * Diaper, feeding, and nap times will vary according to the infant’s individual needs.
