The Pillars Spiritual Development Curriculum
At The Pillars, we want to help children develop a personal relationship with God. This is reflected throughout our day by reading God’s word, prayer, memorizing scripture, and having fun through praise & worship and weekly chapel.
We are non-denominational and teach basic biblical truths, supported by stories and lessons from the Bible. We provide our teachers and chaplains with our curriculum and teacher tools (including age-appropriate Bible study video content from “RightNow Media”) in our unique spiritual development program.
Our Unique Program
At The Pillars, we balance academic development with spiritual growth to support our mission: to partner with families who want to raise good kids who are successful in their lives and love Jesus.
We understand that we have the privilege of laying the educational foundation for the children in our care; and we also see ourselves as a ministry and encourage a relationship with God for our children, staff, and families.
Spiritual Development is an important part of what we do at The Pillars. We help children develop a personal relationship with God through reading God’s word, memorizing scripture, building character, praise and worship, and prayer. Children are able to dive deep into the big story of the Bible – God’s plan to rescue His people through His son, Jesus Christ.
We are non-denominational and teach basic biblical truths, supported by stories and lessons from the Bible. We provide our teachers and chaplains with curriculum and teacher tools (including age-appropriate Bible study video content from RightNow Media) in our unique spiritual development program. Our spiritual development curriculum, delivered by our experienced teachers and chaplains, helps us to:
- Focus on Jesus – We help children see how each lesson points to Jesus.
- Connect the Dots – We help children to understand how each story has a life lesson.
- Live the Story – We help children understand how to live for Jesus and love him.
- Build the Experience – Children learn best hands on! We utilize dramatic play with puppets, props, and costumes to bring biblical stories to life.
- Interact and Engage – Fun extras like art, videos, music, and activities keep children engaged and learning.
Research by Bryant Myers finds that 85% of those who become Christians do so between the ages of 4 and 14 years old. At The Pillars, we focus on helping our students build a foundation of faith that will last a lifetime. Here at The Pillars:
- We Hear God’s Word – The Bible is God’s Holy Word that contains many stories of God and God’s people. When we hear stories from the Bible, we are reminded of how much God loves us and cares for us.
- We Sing to God – One of the ways we talk to God is through our songs. When we are with God, we are so happy we just have to tell God. So, we sing our thanks.
- We Pray to God – God is always with us, ready and willing to hear what we have to say. We can tell God when we are happy, when we are sad, when we are afraid, and when we are thankful.
- We Worship God – We show God how much we love Him when we worship Him, and we help others know God through our words and actions.
Experiential Learning
The Pillars offers experiential learning opportunities throughout the year, including “Journey to the Cross,” “A Night in Bethlehem,” and Vacation Bible School.
Journey to the Cross
“Journey to the Cross” is a two-week long experiential learning program where students get a chance to visit with Jesus and His Disciples and hear the story of the last week of Jesus’ life on earth.
